Donations Needed .
Help, Aid, Support, Donations --- All are needed in varying degrees to bring Pass Christian to some semblance of what it was. Fortunately, most of the residents are well to do and live in grand homes situated along the Beach Front or in upscale subdivisions or inland from the Gulf shoreline along several bayous or rivers. There were two well kept Golf clubs surrounded by Country Club environments.
However, it will take years for these residential dwellings to be recaptured. In the mean time, the community infrastructure is completely gone. Only one of four public schools is operable. Only one of a dozen city buildings exists. The Sewerage and Water Board system is corrupted.
Following Hurricane Camille, 37 years ago, the city officials shunned Federal Aid in deference to going it alone. This time, Katrina devastation is enormously worse. There is only one commercial enterprise that processed through the storm undamaged. It is a Snowball Stand that sells Ice cones for a dollar. The newest tax contributor is heavily damaged WalMart, and all of us dearly hope that they will join us in the rebuilding process. Beyond doubt, Pass Christian needs a lot of Help!
